Relaxed, informal and friendly walks through the history of Northumberland.
I've spent years exploring Northumberland on foot, and the more I walk it the more it gives back.
Hidden Heritage exists because the county's history is not only in its great castles and abbeys. It's in the rock carvings on a moor, the line of an old carriage drive, the cave that may have sheltered a saint, the wet sand you cross barefoot to reach an island.
My walks are half-day experiences shared with a small group. I keep them relaxed, informal and friendly. I set the pace to the people who turn up, and I share the background as we walk rather than lecturing at you.
I provide details of where to meet and park, a full guiding service, background on the route as we walk, and I carry a first aid kit.

How I work
What a walk with me is like
Small groups
A maximum of 15 walkers on scheduled dates, and a maximum of 15 on private group bookings.
Half a day, well spent
Walking times of 2–4 hours, most routes 3–6 miles, and all of them circular apart from the Pilgrims' Path.
Whatever the weather
Walks proceed in all weather unless I consider it unsafe — bring clothing suited to the conditions.
